PG&E Operator Qualifications & OQ Numbers
PG&E requires current Operator Qualification (OQ) credentials for covered tasks on gas facilities under federal pipeline safety regulations (49 CFR Part 192). General contractors and PG&E inspectors ask for OQ numbers during prequalification, so we publish ours. These credentials are held by founder Joseph Dometita and maintained through the ITS (Industrial Training Services) eWallet system.

Built for PG&E's Standards
PG&E holds applicant-installed trenches and conduit to specific requirements: trench depth and width, clearances from other utilities, sand bedding and shading, approved conduit and substructures, and compaction on backfill. A trench that misses any of these gets rejected at inspection, and a rejected trench means re-mobilization, open-trench liability, and a delayed service connection.
We build to those requirements from the first cut. Our crews carry current OQ credentials for pipe installation, backfill, and compaction (OQ 02-15) and damage prevention during excavation (OQ-0507), and we pothole to expose existing utilities before digging near them. On joint trench projects we set the required separation between gas and electric so both utilities pass on the same inspection visit.
How the Applicant Process Works
- PG&E application and job documents. You (or we, alongside your application) review the PG&E job sketch and trench requirements for your service.
- Excavation to specification. We trench, bore, or pothole per the job documents, place sand bedding, and install conduit for electrical runs.
- PG&E inspection. The trench stays open and protected until PG&E inspects and installs or pulls its facilities.
- Backfill and restoration. After sign-off we shade, backfill, compact, and restore concrete, asphalt, or landscape to finished condition.

Yes. We trench for PG&E gas services, PG&E electrical services, and joint trench projects that carry both in a single excavation. PG&E installs and connects its own gas facilities and pulls its own electrical cable. As the applicant installer contractor, we perform the scope the customer is responsible for: excavating the trench to PG&E specification, placing sand bedding and shading, installing electrical conduit and substructures where applicable, and completing backfill, compaction, and restoration after PG&E signs off. We coordinate directly with your PG&E project representative so each phase is ready when they are.
Yes. Every trench is excavated to the current PG&E requirements for depth, width, clearances from other utilities, bedding, and shading, so it passes utility inspection without rework. Failed trench inspections are one of the most common causes of delayed service connections, and re-mobilizing to fix a non-compliant trench costs more than digging it right the first time.
We handle permit coordination with your city or county and schedule around PG&E inspection milestones. Trenches typically must be inspected before they can be backfilled, and we sequence the work so open-trench time, inspection, and restoration stay on schedule.
