Signs of Water
Water Leak
How do you know there is a water leak in your property? Because water leaks are insidious, you need to detect them in good time to avoid damage to foundations, floors, ceilings, or yards. Some of the signs of water leaks you should keep an eye on are:
Rising Water Bills
Increased water consumption without noticeable changes in usage patterns shows that you could be having a water leak on your property. The fault could be in hidden areas like faucets, toilets, or underground pipes. These issues lead to slow drips or continuous water flow, leading to significant differences in water bills over time.
Damaged Floor and ceilings
When water seeps through floors and ceilings, it causes warping, swelling, staining, discoloring, and sagging. The problem poses significant damage to your property if not fixed early. Total UC helps you to avert the potential for extensive structural harm by promptly identifying and repairing any plumbing leaks.
Low Water Pressure
Water diversion from its intended path decreases pressure in fixtures and faucets. This could be seen when showering or filling up a sink or bathtub. The problem results in slower flow rates and weaker water streams. We have experience detecting and fixing low water pressure due to pipe leaks.
Cracked Paintwork
Water seepage weakens floor, wall, and ceiling paints, leading to peeling, cracks, and bubbling. Damaged paintwork is also evident through molds and mildew formation in dump areas in your house. Because this could also cause respiratory issues, you should call a plumber to repair the leaks immediately.

I met Joe from Total Underground Construction when my neighbor was having all her pipes replaced. He was friendly and professional. I kept his number just in case I would need help in the future. That day came this week! My landlords handyman had tried to replace my corroded PVC that was leaking. It caused a host of problems with the water pressure in the house. I called Joe and he was at my house within 20 minutes! He was able to fix the problem and explain what was going on with great knowledge. He even followed up the next day to confirm things were back to normal. Highly recommend!!

I had a clogged main sewer line that needed replacing and my neighbor recommended Joe and Orlando. They immediately came out to assess the situation and proposed a cost effective solution. Right away, they came off as two guys who really enjoyed their work. After accepting the project, they took the extra steps to drive out that night to get the sewer line in a passable condition for the few days until the start of the project so we would not be without water and this was all done free of charge with the project. For comparison, other plumbers I've worked with have charged me even for using the camera to look at the line. During the project, they had 4 guys working and were able to complete the sewer line replacement in a single day. On top of all this, their price was extremely reasonable. Highly recommend them and would definitely call on them for future plumbing needs.

I was leaving the Bay Area after 30 years and my house was 115 years old. As expected, I failed an inspection required by City of San Mateo's lateral sewer line ordinance (enacted in 2020).
I contacted a very large plumbing outfit suggested by my realtor, but they gave me a very large estimate. Later that night, someone recommended Joe at Total Underground Construction (funnily enough it was a Lyft driver who heard my sob story and had a similar experience).
Joe assessed the situation and gave me a lower quote with a few contingencies for stuff he couldn't see until excavating. To my surprise, the contingent items weren't necessary and the quote held.
Work was performed impeccably and quickly. Permits and all phases were perfectly sequenced, and we passed inspection. Now I can sell the house.
Joe is very experienced and a good guy - total pro. If you're ever in this situation, don't stress - just contact this company.

FAQ
you asked we answered
How do I find out where my water is leaking from?
You can find the location of a water leak by identifying areas with visible signs like damp spots, mold, or peeling paint. Also, you can check stains and funny sounds around plumbing fixtures, under sinks, and along walls.
How do I know if my pipes are leaking under my floor?
The most common signs of leaks under floors include water spots, warping, mold or mildew growth, musty odors, and sagging or discolored flooring. Because underground leaks are difficult to detect, it is advisable to contact Total UC for pressure testing and thermal imaging.
Where is the most common area of water leak in a house?
Water leaks occur mostly in the bathroom, especially around the toilet, shower, or bathtub. Other common areas include under sinks, around faucets, and in basements or crawl spaces where pipes are located. Regular inspection and maintenance can help prevent water damage from leaks.
What do you do if water leaks through a wall?
If you notice water leaking through the walls, shut off the main water valve to prevent further damage. Then, call a professional plumber to locate the source of the leak and fix the problem.
