What we check

What the plan review covers

The same review we do before we price any underground job, written up so you can use it.

Quantities

Trench footage by section, depth, shoring, bedding, backfill, and the concrete, asphalt or landscape restoration that follows.

Trench section

Joint trench separations checked against the current PG&E Greenbook table, and cover measured from final grade.

Utility conflicts

Water, sewer, storm and fire service runs laid against the joint trench route, with crossings and existing lines to pothole.

Schedule risks

What has to be in the ground first, where the trench sits in the site sequence, and anything on the plans likely to hold up inspection.

Questions

Before you send the plans

Is the plan review really free?

Yes. There is no charge for the review or the bid, and no obligation to award us the work.

When does the 48 hours start?

When we have a complete set: the civil and utility plans, the joint trench drawing if there is one, and the specs. If something is missing, we ask for it straight away.

Do you design the joint trench?

No. PG&E or an applicant designer designs the gas and electric, and a joint trench consultant usually puts it on one composite drawing. We review that drawing against the rest of the site and build it.

Can you send insurance and bonding paperwork?

Yes. Certificates of insurance and bonding information are available on request for prequalification.

Where do you work?

Across the Bay Area from our base in San Leandro: Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Napa counties.
